Our Team at
Crossfit Skirmish
CrossFit Skirmish coaches are pretty special, with credentials which include CrossFit, HYROX plus a range of other qualifications and experience. These include: sports science degrees, British weightlifting qualifications and other types of sports coaching (Judo, Rugby and Specialist Kids training). Our trainers are talented at programming and scale all workouts, adapting exercises to your current skill level to ensure that safe technique is not compromised. In addition to general class coaching, you can also book 121 sessions with any of them to perfect technique or indeed provide you with accelerated programming and personal training.
Alexander Voronov
Alexander, Sasha for short, is our Head Trainer and a Russian power house. Sasha’s first passion was Judo, where he was both an excellent coach and Scottish Champion, representing both Scotland & the UK at International level. He then moved into MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), becoming a British Medalist in MMA and a Semi Professional Fighter. However, on a visit to Canada in 1999, Sasha discovered CrossFit. He describes himself as ‘bambi on ice’ after trying FRAN which broke him! He was shocked to discover that CrossFit was tougher than any training regime he had tried before but also far more rewarding. He was an overnight convert and has been working hard to deliver great coaching ever since. In addition to CrossFit Certifications, Sasha is a qualified Judo and British Weight Lifting Coach and has recently added HYROX training to his credentials too. We look forward to seeing what he will achieve in both arenas this year.
Ross Watters
Ross was born in the Scottish Borders, his passion growing up was playing football. Indeed, he played for Berwick Rangers aged 16 before joining Edinburgh University in the semi-professional league in 2019. During this time he also obtained a degree in Applied Sports Science. After graduation, he decided to move on from football to start a new chapter in his life. He spent the majority of lockdown learning and understanding Olympic Weightlifting and began to focus his attention on personal training as a potential career and qualified as a L3 personal trainer. During this time he also did some research into different fitness training methods and decided to complete the CrossFit level 1 trainer course too, despite never setting foot in a CrossFit box before. It was during this course that Ross had his ‘road to Damascus’ moment. He fell in love with the community and developed a passion for the competitive side of the sport too. Ross, joined CrossFit Skirmish the week after qualifying and was hooked from the first day. Ross’s talent and passion was clear from day one – we were proud of his progress and supported his development. So much so that exactly one year after joining as a member we invited him to join our coaching team. Ross is an attentive and supportive coach as well as an impressive athlete. We are delighted he has also taken on board HYROX coaching and is simultaneously pursuing a career in competing as a professional CrossFit athlete too.
Natalia Swanston
Natalia is an impressive personal trainer, a REPS Level 4 personal trainer and most recently a HYROX coach. She has impressive knowledge, advanced fitness programming know-how and nutritional knowledge. She has been working at CrossFIt Skirmish for the last 5 years motivating and transforming clients. Natalia ‘walks the walk’ when it comes to training and nutrition and is an impressive female body building physique competitor and HYROX competitor. Natalia specialises in weight loss, improving muscle tone and building muscle. Indeed Natalia is a body building and physique specialist who works with body building athletes who want to compete and is now rolling out her knowledge as part of her HYROX coaching.
Carol Ann Low
Carol Ann was our first CrossFit member back in 2015. Although experienced in weightlifting and body building, she was ‘new’ to the world of CrossFit.
Carol-Ann started her fitness journey when she was 21. After years & years of aerobics & spinning classes she started testing out CrossFit workouts for a new challenge. ‘Linda’ was the first CrossFit workout she ever tried. From that day on, there was no going back. Carol-Ann hung up her global gym apron and stepped into the CrossFit world. Starting CrossFit in 2013 as our first CrossFIt Skirmish member, Carol-Ann’s passion grew for the community, the varied works outs and the new challenge. She worked hard on honing her skills across all disciplines and demonstrated her knowledge and aptitude for coaching. It was clear that Carol-Ann was hooked and determined to become a coach and mentor for the Box. We were therefore delighted when she bit the bullet to complete her CF1 and HYROX qualifications in 2025. We couldn’t be more delighted to add Carol-Ann to our team and community.
Candy Moreira
Candy started CrossFit Skirmish in 2022 and hasn’t looked back since. We saw her embrace all the CrossFit disciplines with ease it became apparent that her drive and determination would drive her to be a great CrossFit competitor. Candy’s spirit and enthusiasm is infectious so we were delighted to learn that she wanted to coach, indeed we encouraged her to go for her CF-L1 in June 2025 in the hope that she would join our team. Not only has she jumped into coaching to share the knowledge she’s gained (and to keep learning herself) she is already proving to be very popular with our community. You’ll often spot her volunteering at competitions, cheering louder than anyone else, and bringing her love for the CrossFit & HYROX community into every class. For Candy, Skirmish isn’t just a gym—it’s her second home.
